System Restor

At the advice of Microsoft did a system restore to try and fix XP SP2
problem. It did not fix problem and when undid restore computer comes up as
if it has never been used. Appears the process altered the registry and no
longer recognizes user information. ANy suggestions or explaination of why.

What was the problem with SP2? Using System Restore won't always help with
SP2 errors.

The optionto turn the firewall on or off has become grayed out not letting
you make a choice. Currently the fire wall is on.
