System recovery deleted my wedding pictures..please help

My sony vaio was acting up so I did system recovery for C drive only but it reformatted my whole computer including my D drive which contains my photo
any way I can get them bac

Already answered on your first post, you really should wait
a while before posting again.

System restore is not the same as using an OEM system
restore
CD as you have found out. There ways to recover from a
format and deletion of files, but they are not perfect and
some files are hard and expensive to recover. First, stop
using the computer, every file that is written to the drive
is likely over-writing the files you want to recover.

The D: drive should have been over-written, so it may still
be on your computer.

Call Drive Savers on the phone or from another computer and

Back up your data! You will only have to learn this painful lesson once.

Symantec's Partition Magic 8.0 (Dos Boot Floppy) can unformat
a drive (D ~$70 Retail @Best Buy, Office Depot. Do not use the
Notebook. Purchase the program and create the Dos Floppy from
another PC. Depending on your desperation level, you may be in
need of a Computer professional to do this process.
You can also use a program called "Partition Recovery", but it is
more complex and requires more technical expertise.

Chances of Recovery from this are about %50.

Go to www.ontrack.com and download the trial version of Easy Recovery. Your chances for success are better than 70% if you haven't messed around with the system too much.

I second Jim's solution. DO NOT touch the computer! Leave it to the
professional to tease out whatever is left. Are you sure you did a
reformat? I am sure I can speak for all of us here that we wish you good

Your chances of success using the trial version are 0%. It will only
show what COULD be recovered. And their software is NOT cheap. I'm more
interested in the $40 German product.

And to think, later versions of DOS had unerase packaged with it. But
then it also had an antivirus program, too.
