whilst trying to shut down windows i got this message.Any ideas what
happened(it took forever to shut down)

You can find an explanation in Event Viewer. Don't expect to understand what
it means. One of the great things about XP is its ability to 'recover from a
serious error' and keep on going. If this is the first time you've seen this
message, or if it only happens on rare occasions, not to worry. It's just
Windows taking care of business. If you're seeing that message a lot, then
it's time to be concerned

THANKS TED-YOUVE CERTAINLY EASED MY MIND!
