System Rebooting

Denise

I have been using Windows 2000 Pro for over two years with
no major problems. In the last two or three months my
system has had trouble booting. It has to go through a
disk scan about every time and then shuts down when trying
to load. Not always at the same interval. Sometimes the
program loads and then shuts down while other programs are
starting up. It immediately starts to reboot. One thing I
have found is that the WMI can't start because of invalid
username. I have checked several log files and have found
consistently the 80041001E message. Upon doing a search at
microsoft website I found an article on this error which
says when it is initializing WBEM, WinMgmt uses the
default language setting, which results in the Traditional
Chinese language being used. It also says that the
information in the article only applies to Simplified
Chinese Windows 2000. It says that a fix is available but
not recommended due to continued testing. They advise that
anyone wait till the next critical update. I can hardly
get my computer to come on anymore. Can anyone help
without going through all the red tape to get a fix from
Microsoft? Hopefully I will be able to log on and find an
answer, without having to reformat.
Thanks
