Alex

After updating to the latest virus pattern for McAfee 4.5 and installing the
latest MS security patches my system has become uresponsive.
The system process is taking almost 100%.
The first error I saw was the registry size is to small.
I see an error in the event log that lead me to the assumption that there
corrupt open handles in the registry. Possible?

Is there a registry cleanup tool?

Is there a hotfix available from Microsoft by now?
Is it somewhere accessible?

I was able to uninstall using the spuninst.exe option.
However my PC still runs at 100%...

Alex,

I am also still struggling with this. I have uninstalled the security
update, but without results.

I have been looking at all kinds of sites, and often this problem is
recognised, but I haven't found a solution yet.

At first I thought it could have to do with my Dutch WIN 2000, but I assume
you are not using a Dutch version.

I am wondering what the similarity between our setups is...

If you have any old or funky hardware installed (e.g. I/O cards using
old NT4 drivers) try uninstalling the driver and removing the card,
and see if the problem goes away.

OK Thanks. At least a way to make my system work again. Let's see what will
happen with my system..
