system.mdw and access to access

Ok, I'm very new to Access 'security', so please bear with me.

I have an access database that was set up by a volunteer and runs of a file
server. We have to run it over remote desktop as we only have one ODBC
driver, and it ties into another powerflex db we own (this is background only)

I, personally, can run it fine. I have perms on all folders etc etc. I never
had any problems starting it up.

When I tried to hand it over to another workmate today, first we got a
"user" login screen which was auto filled with his AD user info details, then
we got an error along the lines of: System#.mdw could not be found.

The path it points to (ie, where it _wants to find the file) is a local
profile path (/docs+settings/workmate/app data/etc/etc/system#.mdw)

This is the first time I've ever experienced this. Whe I look at my own
account, there is a file named this in my local profile as well. As I found
out, copying this over to his account did not work.

He had all the correct perms previous to this happening. I decided, against
better judgement, to add him to the AD admin group to see if that worked. No,
it didn't.

As far as I know, there is no security on this access db. While we got the
user login, we get that every time a new user logs into their copy of an
office product, so I didn't think anything of it.

I've followed as many instructions as possible - somewhere on an MS site, I
found one that told me to do this: give all perms to "user" in
tools->security->perms. That didn't work either.

I tried creating another db and importing all of teh other one across, that
also didn't work.

I don't understand all the user/groups perms in the Access->tools->security
part, cos it doesn't seem to integrate with AD at all.

I've never ever had to use a password, so I presume that there is none. I
cleared it just in case.

I tried deleting all groups and users, because there is no security concern
at all. Nothing.

I don't even know what to do now.

Now I'm at a loss? Any ideas?

Grant full permissions to the "users" *group* for all objects, *including*
the database object. You will then not need the mdw file nor a bespoke
shortcut to open the mdb. You also need to grant RWXD file permissions to
the folder where the Access file lives for all users.
