System locks when press any keyboard key

Hello all

I have this problem: when I try to startup my PC (with
windows XP Professional) in the logon window the mouse is
working, but when i press any keyboard key the system
freeze and I need to power off to start again with the
same results

First, try with a different keyboard, both usb (if you use a usb
keyboard) and ps/2. Then post back with results. Remember, always
troubleshoot by trying one thing at a time and then testing.
