When I check the processes in Task Manager the system idle process is
constantly running between 80 -90 is this normal? There is a constant
clicking/whir coming from the box

You want a high idle process. 80-90 is actually low. Idle means it's
not doing anything - it's the process that runs when the CPU is not
doing any other tasks.

Try turning off the indexing service. Go to Start | Run. Type in
services.msc. Click ok. In the right pane scroll to indexing service,
double click it, stop it if it's started. Then change the startup type
to disabled.

Break out a dictionary and look up the word "idle," sometime. ;-}
The "System Idle Process" metric is the amount/percentage of time that
your CPU has nothing to do. A reading of 98-99% is generally
considered a good thing, and readings above 90% are normal. Think of
it like a car's engine idling in your driveway before you place the
car in gear.

"System Idle Process" is not any problem at all. That's just the name for
what the system is doing when it's not doing anything. It's there to make
the total add up to 100%
