System Idle Process running at 90% + most of the time

Recently I have noticed that every time I open Task Manager that the System
Idle Process is running at 90% + CPU most of the time. Is this normal. If
not, what is possibly going on? I am sure that it is effecting some of my
CPU intensive games such as Flight Simulator. Any ideas?

System Idle Process is just that, the system being idle. It's not a real
process, just a way to show how much your machine is not doing. Basically
that with a 90% CPU usage means that 90% of your CPU is available, with only
10% being used by real processes.

Nothing is going on. That is why the System Idle Process is using 90% of
the CPU.
You solve the "problem" by giving your computer some useful work.

It's a placeholder, to show when the system is doing nothing. That's why
it's got "idle", in the name.
