System hangs on shutdown Stuck on "Saving settings"

Hi,

I have recently built a new pc,

Win2k Service pack 4
Norton Security
AMD 64bit 3400
Geforce 5900Xt
Crucial 1gb stick
Raptor 10,000 rpm SATA
etc. etc.

My problem is when shutting the system down It hangs on
the saving settings screen, unfortunately there is no
option but to power off at the back.

This problem only occurs when I play 1 particular game.
Americas army, when I play on line then shut down windwos
it always gets stuck. Not shutting down properley is
casuing havoc with my profile and some of my registry
settings.

I have tried changing my firewall / a-v settings,
leaving the system before shutting down for anything up to
an hour,

I am stumped any help would be much appreciated,

Andy

try

start > run > gpedit.msc > Computer Configuration> Administrative
Template
System > Logon > Maximum retries to unload and update user profile ...
set
enabled and to say 5 ... default if not configured is 60!!

this fix probably won't work in this case,
if you read the post carefully, he says it hangs,
the implication being for an extended period of time-

not just 60 sec.-

Try issuing the command

net stop spooler

in a command window, closing the window, then shutting down.
