System hangs on cold startup..driver problem or hardware?

After uninstalling Roxio Media Creator 10, my system has begun hanging
at the windows XP logo screen. Event viewer shows 3 drivers failed to
load: anvioctl, cdudf_xp and dvdvrrdr_xp. On doing a hard reset, the
system starts up fine. I have found a copy of all 3 drivers from a
ghost copy of my C drive and placed them in the
windows\system32\drivers folder. This only got rid of the dvdvrrdr_xp
error. The system still hangs on cold restart.

This error only occurs if the computer has been off for 5 hours or
more. Once it is started, I can reboot to my hearts content with no
problems. I can even turn off the computer for a couple of hours and
it will start up OK.

Does anyone have any ideas on this problem? I am at my wits end and
am contemplating deleting all reference to these drivers in the
registry.

Are those all part of Roxio? Check at their site; often they'll have
related info.

If they're part of Roxio then yes, delete them from the registry; just
export them first in case youe ver need to put them back.
