System goes into limbo

I'm running Windows XP Pro SP2. Some time after installing D-Link Wireless
ADSL Router, I noticed the system slowing. When I boot up it takes ages for
everything to load, then when I try to launch a program e.g. Outlook, it can
take up to 10 minutes to load. I have an online banking program which uses a
modem to connect; if I use this program and connect, I MUST reboot afterwards
because no programs will launch. Sometime this requires more than one reboot.
Can someone please point me in the right direction to fixing this problem?
thanx in advance!

Thanx for the response Carey.
The D-Link Router is attached to my PC via Cat5 cable, then 2 other PC's use
the wireless.
I've had long conversations with D-Link today and have now installed
upgraded firmware - hopefully this will improve the performance of my PC.
