Bill was thinking very hard :
Will not show files, does not seem to work? How do you Run

We believe we have a workaround which is better than installing the VB6
SP. Can we have users who experience this problem try the following:

1) Open up a command prompt (start -> run -> cmd)
2) Type in the following "regsvr32 msvbvm60.dll" (without the quotes).
3) Close and re-open Windows AntiSpyware

Please let me know if this is working.

You can do this wherever you are within file structure.
XP finds regsvrv32.

From DOS I have learned to always go to "root" and
to do that just write cd.. to back to "root".

I think you will have to navigate to the \system32 folder:

1) go to a cmd prompt via start, run "cmd" <enter>
2) cd \
3) cd \windows (this may be \winnt instead, depending.
4) cd system32
prompt should now read \windows\system32 roughly, or the winnt equivalent.

Then type Steve's command line command.

Nope, a properly configured XP finds regrsv32 from wherever
you are within folder/filestructure.

Did not work. Load Library("msvnbvn 60.dll") Failed

The you have something which is not correct configured within
your PC.

Did you see Bills message ?

I hope that you are retyping that failure command--'cause that is not the
name of the file we need to register.

If the prompt ended in \system32 at the time that you typed the command, and
if you typed it correctly - you can use cut and paste from Steve's
message--then it appears that this file is not in place on your
machine--msvbvm60.dll.

I'd recommend reinstalling, or doing an update install.

In the system32 folder, does DIR msvbvm60.dll <enter> show the file?

We've had at least one report from a user who said Steve's command worked,
but that he'd had to navigate to \system32 to get it to do so.

Seems like if it is in \system32, that should not be necessary, but that was
the report, as I recall it.

OK--so you are at a cmd prompt in the system32 folder, and you type:

regsvr32 msvbvm60.dll

and hit Enter, and what happens?

Bill Sanderson presented the following explanation :
OK--so you are at a cmd prompt in the system32 folder, and you type:

regsvr32 msvbvm60.dll

and hit Enter, and what happens?

I got a mail that it worked for him so
Mr Steve Dodsons advice works.

I don?t know where in folder struture this worked
but for XP it must be equal to w2k. OS looks within
system32 folder whereever you are, finds regsvr32 and then register
msvbm60.dll

Maybe this can be clarified by Steve ?

We believe we have a workaround which is better than installing the VB6
SP. Can we have users who experience this problem try the following:

1) Open up a command prompt (start -> run -> cmd)
2) Type in the following "regsvr32 msvbvm60.dll" (without the quotes).
3) Close and re-open Windows AntiSpyware

Please let me know if this is working.

I would need to talk to the VB people to see if anything is different here.
I suspect that we would drop the dll in the same location, and the dll
should be in a directory path. You could try and search for that file to see
if it is on the box or not, and if it is, browse to the location and then
re-register the dll.

We've only had on person report outright failure (in your original
announcement thread) and this one where there seemed to be an issue finding
the file--probably nothing to worry about at the moment.
