System Explorer is crashing.

Hi everyone,

My latest problem is with Windows 2000 system explorer.

Whenever I start it up, it crashes about 60% of the time.

Does anyone have any ideas as to what the problem might be?


Here are some more details:

The problem started after performing the latest update
on Win2k from Microsoft.

The crash happens after I open up more than
one instance of Win Explorer - 2 or more
processes with Win Exp at the same time.

When I open up only a single process, after about
20 - 30 seconds, I notice that the color of the
title bar changes - indicating that perhaps
another process has taken focus. Which process
that is I have no clue.

In Task Manager, the system idle process is taking
up about 99% of the CPU time - so there isn’t another
process hogging time.
