System exception:access violation

S

Susan

I doubt that anyone can help me with this one! When I try
to open disk web, I get FrontPage error dialog box
with "System exception:access violation". I have found
nothing on the MS Knowledge Base but there are references
to error on google. Guess that I will search with google.

Thanks,
Susan

Either your NTFS permissions are locking you out, or some
files are read-only.

The read-only thing usually happens when you copy a Web
from CD. The CD files are obviously read-only...

If that's the problem, right-click the folder in Windows
Explorer, choose Properties, toggle the Read Only
checkbox to cleared, and click OK. If Prompted, choose
Apply Changes To This Folder, Subfolders, and Files.

I edited the registry to delete references to Office,
deleted Office folders, reinstalled Office and FrontPage
and problem cleared up!
