System Exception: Access Violation

Sandy

I am stuck. I am volunteering with our public school
system helping teachers design webpages. I had to reload
FP 2002 after the county ghosted all the local machines.
Website content was stored on a common drive. I relink FP
to the website content and then try to work with any of
the pages, I get a System Exception: Access Violation and
the program freezes up. (This is only happening on one or
two machines, not all...)I have to use task manager to
shut down and start over. I tried moving the content to
the local C drive, same thing happens. Our county tech
support hasn't a clue, any ideas?

Thanks

I just started having the same problem... I wonder if it
has something to do with one of the new security patches
I've recently installed on the OS (Win 2000 SP3). I hope
somebody has a fix for this!!!!

Have you tried the usual repairs
1) In Windows Explorer Find and delete all FP Temp Files
2) In Windows Explorer Find and delete all hidden *.web files
3) In Windows Explorer Find and delete the file CMDUI.PRF
4) Disable or Uninstall any FP Addins
5) Run a Repair / Reinstall on FP & IE
6) Install all Service Packs for your OS, IE, and MS Office

FP Temp files will be in your Windows default TEMP folder
The web cache files are usually in
C:\Documents and Settings\USER\Application Data\Microsoft\Web Server Extensions\Cache

| yup, tried all of those (didn't see any FP Temp files, or
| hidden *.web). I even completely uninstalled FP and
| reinstalled it, and still no dice. I can import the pages
| into another web (just tried it and it seems to work),
| then I need to re-do the navigation, etc. I hope there is
| an easier fix than this....
