When I start up my computer, I get a message everytime
that says "Windows System Error! duplicate name exists
on the network". I would like to know exactly what this
means and exactly how to fix it - every detail. If it
hinders my computer performance or not, I would like to
know either way. If I need to get rid of this "duplicate
name" or let it stay, I would like to know why and I
would like to know how. Thanks!!

what you probably need to do is go in and change your
computer's name. click on my computer then on system
properties. this will bring up a new window with tabs.
click on the tab that says computer name. then click on
the "change" button after the description "to rename this
computer..." and write a new name, something original
that you can remember but no one else will use but do not
change the work group.
