system does not turn on

Hi, there:

Have a question regarding to my compaq presario 1800T. It
comes with Windows Me and I upgraded it to Windows XP a
year ago. Today when I started the computer, the "indows
is starting up" message showed up and then followed with
black screen. I have encounted the same problem before,
and as usual, I turned the power off and then restarted
the computer. Then the computer does not turn on anymore,
and it can not be turned off either. I tried press the
power button for 15 seconds or so, the machine will turn
off, but once I released my finger the machine
automaticall restart although nothing showed up on screen.
Hopefully you will have some idea to help fix this problem.

while powering up tap the f8 key (repeatedly) to boot into
safe mode and see if it will work then figure out what
program or driver is screwing up.
or else your onboard (is it) video card is dead. or your
add in agp card needs to be reseated.

Thanks for the message. I have tried this but the computer
is not responding. I am not sure if there is anything else
I can try. Hopefully it is not a big problem.
