"Therefore you will not have an image in the preview window."
I have two laptops, both with XP Home, a Presario and an Inspiron.
I have WinDVD Creator installed on the Inspiron, and it works fine
(I did not get this message) but when I installed and tried to use it
for the first time on the Presario, I got the message and the preview
window was blank in the capture mode.
The Presario has just had its hard drive replaced, and I
installed ONLY the XP Op Sys. One of the disks in the Compaq
Quick Restore set was broken, and since all I want to do is use
this computer for CD burning, I thought I would be fine.
Is this message possibly due to a missing driver, and can I
resolve it without buying the Compaq CD pack, most of which
contains stuff I will probably never need? Or is it something else?
Help much appreciated!
Frank

I guess it is the video driver or, closely related, Direct X. Overlays is Windows graphics ceding control to the hardware so a program can write to video quickly (but takes all resposibility for it working rather than windows making it work).
