System Default Profile not loading

Hi,

I am running windows xp/sp2. When I logon to the machine as administrator I
get a count down message that system could not load the user's profile and
will load the systems default profile once the count has been reached the
system is logged on. However, even when I try to add a shortcut to the
desktop i.e, my computer it is added but not seen.

Thanks,

Paul
