System Restore ~ Administrator Account

How can I do a System Restore when I can not access my administrator profile?

When I log on using my Administrator user profile, windows message: "Windows
cannot load the user profile but has logged you on with the default
profile for the system.

I appreciate any help anyone can give.

You can use off-line System Restore - see here:

Thanks for the response.

How do I know if my computer has an OEM-installed operating system? I have
Windows XP Media Center Edition.

Also here is the complete windows message when I logged on my Adminstrator
account: "Windows cannot load the user profile but has logged you on with
the default profile for the system. The system can not find the file
specified."

Thanks for all your help.

The method outlined in the link I gave you should work regardless of your
version (OEM/Retail). However, it does rely on you starting the machine in
Recovery Console mode.

I am so very thankful for your help.

I read info on the "recovery console". It seems complicated to me.
I am so new to this. Once I start the process, is there like step by step
instruction?

Am using and another laptop to access the internet now. My "problem" laptop
has all the important documents related to my administrator account.
Unfortunately the last time I back it up was last April yet.

Please don't give up on me.

Thank you.

Once you're in the Recovery Console, you're on your own. All the help you
get is from the web page I have quoted. If its instructions look daunting
(and they can be daunting for the novice!) then you should get a
computer-literate friend to assist you.
