System crashes

My Win XP keeps crashing and it has an error message that
says "It is shutting down due to an error in the Remote
Procedure Call and is being shut down by the NT
Authority\System.

Any ideas?

Visit http://www.symantec.com/ and carry out a Virus
Scan (Centre column under Announcements, 'Security
Check'). Buy a Good Virus Package, and keep it up to date.

Hi Fred,

To stop the reboots: Go to Start/Run and type in: services.msc. Scroll down
to Remote Procedure Call (RPC)/Recovery/First Failure/Restart the Service.

Close Windows Explorer, run the edit on line 257 which includes the prompt
for the patch once your system has been cleaned.

This script removes all variants of the W32.Blaster.Worm (original, B, C, D,
E and F) and will inform you whether or not the patch is already installed.

You are infected with the Blaster worm virus.



To stop the rebooting/shutdowns, right click on the task bar, choose task
manager, processes tab, look for msblast.exe. Highlight it and click end
process. Then turn on the xp firewall.

To turn on the firewall: control panel, network and internet connections,
network connections, right click your connection, properties, advanced tab,
check the protect my computer box. Do this as quickly as you can once the
desktop comes up. Then visit the sites below for the removal and patch info.
