Comp Details...
OS: XP
Drives: 20GB C: (Default OS Drive)
40GB D:
DVD ROM E:
CD RW F:
Bios: ASUS ACPI Compliant (Flashed Today!)
Last night I was watching a movie on my computer when
suddenly WMPlayer froze and then I got an error window
which I closed and the player closed. I tried restarting
it but the working cursor(hourglass) would show and go and
nothing would happen. Then I got the blue screen of
death. I tried restarting but it hung. Then I tried the
F8 option and with all of the "safe mode" options, the
computer starts to load files but hangs when it is
loading "ntfs.sys". On the "last known good config..."
option, the screen goes blank and the computer hangs. On
the "start windows normally" option, again blank screen
and hang. I then tried the WinXP Pro setup CD and it goes
thru the loading files and when its done loading and
says "starting windows..." the screen suddenly switches to
the "Blue Screen of Death". I tried the same install on
my other hard drive but had the same problem. Rebooting
from that drive ttold me that "ntldr" was missing. I
copied "boot.ini", "ntldr.*" and "ntdetect.*" to a floppy
and started from there and tried booting up to the other
hard drive and the new message was that "hal.dll" was
missing.
I have two hard drives (C: & D
, a dvd-rom drive(E
and
a cd-rw drive(F
. Drive C: was my default OS running
drive, the new install was done on both C: and D: and
there is still no response. My computer is functionally a
paperweight at this moment so pls help me restore it to
its potential. Thx.
