System clock gains time

Hi,
My system clock has startred gaining time. Sometimes a few minutes, once
almost an hour.
I did find this Microsoft article: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/821893
My system does have the file halmacpi.dll. I found it by doing a search.
Unfortunately, the Microsoft article doesn't have details on how I can
fix the problem. It just states " Modify the program to call the
timeBeginPeriod function at startup and to call the timeEndPeriod function on
exit. This workaround eliminates repeated time increment changes."
My system doesn't have any viruses or adware & has been disk cleaned
and defragged regularly.
Can somebody help me with a fix, or explain the steps for the suggested
Microsoft workaround?

Any help will be greatky appreciated. : ) Thanks!

First question would be whether this is a hardware or software problem.

Try running the computer in DOS, or with the BIOS info screen showing, and
see if the time remians corrrect. If it does not, then the 32kHz timing
crystal on the mobo is most likely inaccurate.
