System Clock CCB-F Error

I have had to readjust my system clock to the correct time (I dont
know why it changed to that), now every time I open a folder I am
getting a
CCB-F error code message, saying that it might be an attempt to
defeat
security. I do not have any trial software or any other software that
should be
date sensitive.

The error occurs in IE7 and the Control Panel application. I have
searched for an
answer and never have seen a resolution for the error when it occurs
in Microsoft
programs.

can anyone help, (especially someone from Microsoft)

For anyone who has this problem of the CCB-F error in the future and
cannot find a solution, I understand your frustration.

I did determine the following:
1. The problem began on August 8th when I discovered the date had
been set forward to August 13th (I don't know how that occurred).
2. When I set the date back to August 8th, the problem manifested
itself in IE 7 and the Control Panel application.
3. In order to avoid the error message (which would lock up IE 7) I
had to set the date back to August 13th.
4. Everyday, as the date would move forward a day, I would set the
date back one day to August 13th.
5. On August 13th, I set the date back as I had been doing and the
problem no longer manifests itself.

My theory is that these applications have written a date to some
system file everytime they are used. Subsequently, the application
reads the date out of the system file and compares it with the system
date. If the system date is earlier than the one read from the file,
the error is generated.

The only purpose for this error that I can think of is it is used to
protect from someone setting the system date back in order to use
software that is on an evaluation period. However this explanation
does not explain why the error would occur in IE 7 or the Control
Panel application.

If anyone discovers the method that this error uses (such as the name
of the system file that the date is written to) or the real purpose of
the error, please post the information.
