Hi

I am using windows XP professional. I did a
defragmentation yesterday, but suddently found that my
system becomes very slow when I copy and move files
between different hard drives. I have never met this
problem before. Can anybody kindly tell me what the
problem is? Many thanks.

The same thing just happened to me few days ago. My
Windows XP Home was kind of slow, so I decided to
defragment the drive. After which it became so slow, I
mean everything moves as slow as my 386 10 years ago, no
joke. From reading few posts here I noticed that others
had the same problem after defragmenting. I think this is
new issue with XP and defragmenting the drive.
Good luck.

It is good to know that some people have the same problem.
After knowing it is not just my own problem, I did a
little bit research on the web and found the solution.
You need to enable DMA manually. Windows XP probably
change the mode after the defragmentation. Check out this
website for how to enable DMA under windows XP. Good luck.
