System 32 Error on Startup

Yesterday when i turned on my computer, while it was loading an error message popped up which reads as follows

C:\WINDOWS\System32\System32.ex

Windows cannot find 'C:\WINDOWS\System32\System32.exe' Make sure you typed the name correctly, and try again. To search for a file, click the Start button, and then click search

I ran ad-adware that same day, before this happened, and there was one file in the registry which it detected and blocked. i restored all these files, and it still came up with the same error message on startup. What should i do?

The System32.exe file *is* the virus; it's certainly not a valid
WinXP system file. You don't want that file. Pay particular attention
to _all_ of the removal instructions:

W32.Kwbot.C.Worm
http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/w32.kwbot.c.worm.html

Additionally, MS-MVP Doug Knox has kindly scripted a tool that
should help:
