sysprep

Hi:
I don t know if this is the correct group for my question if is not my
apologies.
I am new to my job in a organization with 300 hundred employees.
I am using sysprep to create the image for the computers.
All goes fine but the shortcuts that I put in the desktop before I
sysprep the PC disappear from the image.

When I boot the computers that I created with the image, the shortcuts
are not there.
I have tried putting the shortcuts in the all users desktop but the
result is the same,

Thank you

SP2??? Try putting them into the local administrator profile as with SP2
sysprep will create the default user profile from your local
administrator profile, sort of sucks really. They say you can contact
them for a hotfix for this, but I haven't bothered, we're just working
around it.

I follow your instructions, but they are still not there, do you use
sysprep while you are joined to the domain?
Do you know who to contact in Microsoft for the hot fix?
Thank you
Mario

Hi Mario,

When you set up your master machine you must copy the profile of the user
account you used to set up the computer to the Default User profile (or
alternatively, log onto the machine using any valid user account, create your
shortcuts etc). Right-click My Computer, Properties, click the Advanced tab,
click the Settings button under User Profiles. Select the profile for the
account you used to set up the machine, click Copy To, copy it to
c:\documents and settings\default user. Select Everyone or Authenticated
Users in the 'permitted to use' section.

Nup, we take it out of the domain, and do all the configuration as a
local admin before sysprepping since going SP2, as it's the local admin
profile it uses to generate the default user profile.
