When I make an image computer with xp, I copy the profile I modified to
default user profile, then I run sysprep. So booting my computer and take a
norton ghost image. Then when i boot again and run through the mini setup the
profile is blank again, and I have to copy my profile to default user again.

someone who seen this before?

hello

I'm not so sure but i think when you copy the profile you have to change
permissions to everyone.

I 'm using this method before runnig sysprep and Norton GHOST and it works !!!

Shenan,

The article below mentions a hotfix but there's no link to download it. Yes
I sent an email to Microsoft but I have not heard back.

Can you send me a link to download and test this hotfix as I have project
I'm working on right now and I am experiencing this issue.

Thanks,

Rafael

Hi,

As the article states, you need to call Microsoft Product Support Services to
obtain it (outside the US, customers should contact their local Microsoft
subsidiary.). The support call will be be free as long as you refer to the
Knowledge Base Article number (887816) and ask for nothing more.

You will need to find the phone number from here:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=fh;[LN];CNTACTMS

In the wizard, Select WinXP, and Basic, and then "It was purchased separately"

For USA, you end up here
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=fh;en-us;Prodoffer31

Use phone number 425-635-3311

I believe you have gathered from the other posts that the local Administrator
profile is being copied to Default User profile and overwriting your changes.
The way I have been dealing with this problem is by simply renaming the
Administrator account before running Sysprep.
This has solved the problem for me on the 5 or 6 images that I have made
from XP SP2 prototypes.
Still, can someone confirm that there are no known issues with this before
Glenn proceeds with it. As I said, I have seen no problems with it, but I am
about to be involved in a major re-imaging project so I would like to know
for my own sake as well.
I'm going to put this in as a new post elsewhere so please forgive me if you
see virtually the same thing twice.

Thanks

Glenn,

Did you apply the hotfix? I applied it and did not see any change; however,
I did not recreate the sysprep file from scratch. I'm not certain if this is
the issue. Can you tell me how it worked for you?

Thanks,

Kim

I figured it out. I needed not only to apply the hotfix to the machine
running Ghost Console, but also, needed to apply it to the machine where I
was creating the image. Works like a charm now.

:

you don't have to copy the profile for each client machine? this would
defeat the purpose of creating the image. You only do it before running
sysprep, correct me if I am wrong.
Thank you
Mario
