Hi

I have noticed that I have 2 processes running called
sysoverloader.exe and antivirus.exe.

The antivirus.exe is part of the microsoftvirus service.

What are these processes doing, are they part of a virus?

Thanks in advance

Michel

There is NO such Microsoft service as "microsoftvirus service". Microsoft (presently)
doesn't even have an AV application.

You are infected with a virus or other form of malware.

Here is a start...

Please go to one or more of the below online scanners and perform a scan of your platform
then report back your results.

Trend:

http://housecall.trendmicro.com

F-Secure:

McAfee:

Panda:

Kaspersky:

Symantec:

I have 2 machines that are running these processes as well. One of
them will not allow the process to be stopped. The properties of the
process show:

Name: Microsoftvirus
path: c:\winnt\system32\sysoverload.exe -netsvc

..

I can find no reference to the virus in any of the on-line databases,
and one of the machines was running Trend Micro with current
definitions when it was infected. Any ideas folks?

Do you also have the antivirus.exe process running

I have noticed that if you stop the antivirus.exe process
you can then stop the sysoverloader processes.

Since I have this I cannot install or uninstall network
components properly. Do you have the same problem?

By the way I have McAfee uptodate virus protection and it
detetcs nothing.
