SysFader

I've noticed that as soon as I click Favorites in the IE7 toolbar, an
application called SysFader starts running and goes to not responding within
seconds. The application is removed as soon as the Add Favorites window
comes up. (This seems to be a blessing considering that postings in forums
indicate SysFader could have some serious side effects.)

Is this normal and could it cause IE7 to be slow, at least in bringing up
the Add Favorites window?

I read you message and then used Google where I saw several sites which
discuss sysfader. You can do the same. Below is something I found:

"sysfader.exe is a process belonging to the NVidia Graphics device range and
is bundled alongside these products. This is a non-critical system process
although it should not be terminated unless suspected of causing problems"

Good luck.

Yes, I went to that site, too, as well as many others that seemed to have a
variety of explanations and descriptions from malware to system errors. It
was unclear to me whether SysFader could be removed; therefore, I came to the
place where I could get some expert advice.

Hi Bob,

I wish I could give you a more definitive answer, but the best I can do is
this thread I picked up on:

http://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=24363

I've got a feeling that the solution may lie somewhere in there. It *is*
rather confusing.

Sysfader is part of windows, dispite that some websites claim that it comes
with Nvidia cards, it is runnibg on my system and I have an ATI card.
This is what Karens window watcher says about sysfader

Window Class Name: SysFader (Window Animation Helper)

blessing indead!

On my son's laptop - MSI MS1029/M635 w. X700 ATI video it would hang the shutdown with "Not
Responding" and not shutdown even when left for 12 hours. Powering off was the only option!
After that Windows would hang on booting at the Black WindowsXP logo screen, Safe Mode would
hang after loading mup.sys, booting from WinXP CD would hang at ' Setup is starting Windows ...
' - never reaching an option to Repair or Install. NO access to the system whatsoever.
Drive would have to be formatted with 3rd party software before install could be achieved.
3 times in one month this occurred! IE7 installed with Windows Update each time.
Now things have been good for a month without IE7.
Surprising .....

good luck

Mystery solved!

The SysFader application stopped coming up when I changed the "transition
effect for menus and tooltips" from Fade to Scroll through Desktop properties.

Now if I can just figure out why it takes several seconds for Add Favorites
to come up...
