After creating a folder pair, SyncToy shows the following error message:

Failed to create folder pair. Could not load the file "C:\Program
Files\SyncToy 2.0 Beta\mergedsyncprovider.dll".
http://img253.imageshack.us/img253/5320/synctoymergedsyncprovidkz1.png

My system:
– Windows 2000 SP4 English
– SyncToy 2.0 Beta (Built 10/12/2007 1:10:32 PM)
– .NET Framework 2.0 Service Pack 1 (x86)

I installed the SP1 for .NET Framework 2.0 and SyncToy several times, no
change. The error is independent from the selected folders, sync methods and
folder pair name.

Any suggestions how to fix this problem?

What size is that file on your system? Mine is 349,208 bytes and it is
version 2005.90.9002.53

If yours is different, you have a corrupted file. If it is the same,
then something else is causing a problem loading it. Might you have a
stalled version of SyncToy running, that has a lock on that file?
Process Explorer (Sysinternals, download from Microsoft) can find file
handles for you.

Same size, but version is different: 2005.90.9092.53

Can you please check your version again?

No, there is only one SyncToy running and no other program
is accessing the dll file. :-(

Sorry; Typo on my part. I got a new keyboard recently. Now I'm saving up
for new fingers.

I'm out of ideas at this point.
