I couldn't find anything on the web or grouples regarding the above
error. The file being copied doesn't even have to exist at the
destination directory for the error to occur. Note that the path is
on a 2nd hard drive, drive letter d. Thanks for any suggestions.

Have you tried using Windows Explorer to copy the file to the same
destination. If so do you get the same error or similar error message?

Yes, explorer copies it fine. I am getting strange disk-full errors
when writing a word document into the same disk, even though it was
opened from there. There is lots of room on that disk.

Actually, I'm finding that when I use explorer to drag from stick to
d-drive, the permissions of the destination file end up as read-only.
It is not read-only on at the source (the stick). Wonder why that
would be....

Well, I used Cygwin's Bash to recursively copy my whole file tree
(without duplicating permissions). This seemed to solve the problem.
Thanks anyway!
