synchronizing folders

Whenever Outlook (2003) is synchronizing folders, it always causes my entire
Outlook program to freeze, and sometimes even causes other programs to freeze
or crash. How can I turn off this synchronization or prevent this problem?

I've been trying to figure this out, too. It takes too long to sychronize. I
found that removing the HTTP web mail accounts helps. Seems that's the
acct(s) that cause the hanging. I hope someone else has a solution.
