synchronize problem

How do i sync files between w2k and xp.
I've got two directories on a w2k pc (my children's homework) that i need to synchronize
with my xp pc (to keep the files safe should they trash it again!)
no matter what i do, i don't see any other options than 'My Current Home Page' in the sync
tool.
these directories (username/my documents) have been shared on the local machine, and
mapped to drive letters on the remote machine, as per the help instructions, but i just
don't get the option to sync with these directories on the w2k pc.
it works exactly as expected if i sync shared directories as off-line files from xp to the
w2k but never from w2k to xp.... what up!

I have been using SyncToy from Microsoft.....but I don't think that it works
for W2K. Maybe others know of a similar tool that would be 2K compatible?
SyncToy works great on 2 XP machines.
