synchronising outlook between desktop and laptop

When I carry out this synch hundreds of old email messages are downloaded to
my laptop even though I deleted them from the desktop. Can anyone tell me how
to stop this please.

How are you synching them? Just by leaving messages on the server on the
desktop and not doing the same with the Laptop?
That type of behaviour is expected with that situation.

I'm synchronising via briefcase on the laptop in the same way I do for Word
files etc. I've cleared the tab for leaving messages on server. Basically
it's the same files downloading time and again even though I've deleted them.

If they are continually downloaded then they must still be on the server.
Clear them from it using another profile or an application such as Magic
Mail Monitor:
