Synchronising Message Headers

Question for helpful people: In Outlook, when I move, slecting and
highlighting with my mouse, from one mail folder to another (for example,
from 'Inbox' to 'Sent Mail'), I see the text synchronising Message Headers in
the lowest bar of the window, and the programme takes several seconds to be
ready. This is dramatically slower than moving around inside Outlook Express,
so I wonder if this delay is normal.
Anyone know?

Are you downloading headers only or the full message? You shouldn't see that
at all with a pop account and full bodies.

I'm dowloading the headers and the full messages. 'Synchronising Message
Headers' is the message I ususally see in lowest bar while I wait.
I can only assume that I have configured the account wrongly, as I have only
recently stopped using OE and set up O. In fact the delays are getting longer
all the time, and I have also noticed that after particularly long delays
pop-up messages telling me that connections with my hotmail server are
unavailable. If it is any use I will make a note of the pecise text in one of
those pop-ups.

Hotmail is not POP and the message is typical for hotmail accounts. Do you
have a paid Hotmail account or is it a very old free one?

It's a free hotmail account and I've had it for about 8 years now.

Since I last posted I've been doing more research via previous posts, and
have tried a few things myself. I have set Outlook to empty contents of the
deleted items folder at each closure (perhaps that folder had become
overloaded because I have been moving alot of mail from my inbox to personal
folders), and this appears to have speeded things up. But there are still
delays.
