Synching offline files

I have Windows XP Pro - I made a network drive on my computer so my bos
could see the files - I also made several of those files available t
him "offline" on his laptopn - that was about 2 months ago - an
everything was fine - but this morning when he came back into th
office he tried tp synch and it said network drive was unavailable - s
he was unable to synch - I checked on my computer and it said the IP wa
now a different number - which i guess is why the synching is no
working because it is looking for the old IP address - so my question
are: how can I make sure that the IP address never changes again, wh
did it change in the first place and how can I now make sure th
changes he made to the files "offline" update the files that are on th
network drive - also, is there a way I can change my IP address back t
the original one so the offline files can find the network drive?
thanks alo

I already have this problem

In the sync icon in the taskbar you find the advanced button. In there you
can find the list of syncronization items. One of them has your old ip.

In the machine that has the share that you synchronized before. Change the
ip addres to the one before. Control panel, network connections, local area
connection, right click or right click my network places. in the TCP/Ip item
change the ip of the machine. This would leave the ip fixed.

If you are not the administrator of the lan. Inform him about this to
exclude from dhcp pool the ip that you have. In order to avoid taht other
system obtain the same ip.

My suggestion is to use (machine names) not ip´s when using synchronization.
And use wins and dns to have a relaible way to find by name the machine.

Greetings
