Sync Outlook 2007 between 2 computers

I have Outlook 2007 on 2 computers, one being a brand new laptop and the
other a desktop I use most of the time. I use the laptop in the field and
would like to have all my Outlook 2007 data, that being mail, contacts, task
list etc all sync'd between the two. I have them networked through a router
so all I need is a way to do the sync.

Has anyone any idea how to sync them please? I cannot afford the expensive
Microsoft Small Business Server program and really don't need to sync
anything else other than Outlook data.

Thanks.

Without Exchange server, there's no built in way to do this. You might look
into a hosted Exchange solution - accounts are available from many hosting
companies, and generally aren't very expensive. I don't know if you have a
registered Internet domain name, but you'll need one, if the ISP you're
using doesn't offer hosted Exchange for the domain your mail is using.

That said, you might check out http://www.slipstick.com/outlook/sync.asp

Thanks for that reply but you may add this to the data there on the web
page. I found my own way to send the data between the two for the moment
though it most definitely is NOT sync. Having said that, it works.

In Outlook 2007 (which may mean it isn't the same for old versions - I don't
know for sure), you just export all data via "File - Archive" and then
change the pointer to "Personal Folders" rather than just Inbox. This grabs
EVERYTHING - all calendar, task, you name it - and backs it up to 1 file in
called backup.pst. You take that file to the other computer also using
Outlook 2007 and just import it. Be careful to tell it to delete
duplications when that option comes up. Once you do that, all is on the
other computer.

Not a very satisfactory way to do it but it works and it costs nothing.

Importing a native Outlook file (.pst) will eventually lead to grief. You have been warned.

Instead of import, choose Open from the File drop down menu, and then

How? So far, all works well. I have all the email, folders, tasks, calendar
appointments etc. Seems fine. Have you tried it with Outlook 2007?

It's never been a recommended practice....it eventually leads to data
corruption. Anyway, export/import isn't really the same thing as "syncing".
You might look into the Briefcase method on the Slipstick page; it doesn't
cost anything either.

The calendar is an easy sync if both are using ol2007 (or if one is using

Now THAT looks useful! Thanks! I am constantly forgetting to put one
machine's appointments on the other. Both have Office 2007.
if you can survive with calendar and contacts synced (leave mail on the
server and download it by both systems) - try http://vsync.4team.biz/

My idea with email was to let the laptop pick it up but leave it on the
server and not delete but this machine deletes. I figure that if this
machine picks up anything important, as I am actually at the macine when
OL2007 is running, I will see it and be able to forward it to the other
machine but if on the road and the laptop picks up an important email, this
one still has the ability to get it later. Unfortunately, that is not a
fabulous way of doing things but that's the way it is. I wonder if Windows
Home Server, when it comes out, will fix all this? I never DID install it
and the copy I have is ancient. I just had too much on my plate to put it
in, two days after I downloaded it which really annoyed me.

Thanks for the help.
