Sync contacts using a pop3 email server

Saucer Man

We use Kerio in our organization. We use Outlook with pop3 to connect. I
would like to be able to update a master contact list on one PC and have the
other PCs sync 3 folders in this contact list. I want the contacts to sync
into the outlook address book so the users don't have to open a third-party
list. How can I do this?

Hi Saucer Man,

the Outlook Addressbook is not a "file" or a special folder in Outlook, it
is a special "filter" of your contact folder.

How to synchronize contacts via e-mail without 3rd party tools?
Which Outlook version?

In Outlook 98-2000 you could use "NetFolders" but this function is
unsupported since Outlook 2002.

Maybe this site gives an answer:

If you think bout 3rd party tools (maybe you change your meaning)

Office Marketplace Outlook messaging tools:

Maybe it helps.

Hi Oliver.

We are mostly Outlook 2002 and greater here. I have seen some of these
other solutions but they are costly. Also, they don't integrate into the
Outlook address book...at least that's what I see.

Thanks.

Hi Saucer Man,
I have seen some of these other solutions but they are costly.

Also developers have families, childrens and spend time for development so
it must be ok to take money to solve your problem.
Also, they don't integrate into the Outlook address book.

You must integrate the shared or synchronized folders in your Outlook
Adressbook.

Excample: Our software (Public ShareFolder) gives you a complete shared
Outlook structure with a shared contact folder.

You must add this additnional shared contact folder in your Outlook to the
Outlook Adressbook.

You must click on the shared contact folder, right mouseclick => Properties
=> Outlook Addressbook => Show this folder as Outlook Addressbook.

Again:
The Outlook Addressbook is not a "file" or a special folder in Outlook, it
is a special "filter" of your contact folder.

It is a setting of Outlook, not a setting of the 3rd party tool.

Ok.

I understand and agree with you that developers need to be paid for their
hard work. However, I am in a position where I need to resolve this with
our existing tools...without added expense. If it cannot be done this way,
then we will continue working the way we had been. Thank you for your help!
