Hi all,

I was just wondering if Windows XP home has a function that will allow
me to sync My Documents on my laptop with my portable hard disc? I can't
seem to find such ... Or is there any good program available in the
windows download center?

I highly recommend a program called "second copy" it does just what your
talking about if I understood right. I use it. I wakes up every morning at
0600 hrs and checks my docs for new changed or deleted files and syncs them
with my usb hard drive. you can choose when and how often.

Microsoft has a free tool called SyncToy.

there are 2 versions, 1.2 and 1.4. The former requires .Net 1.1, the
later .Net 2.0. Otherwise they are the same. [So, if you have .Net 1.1
and don't want to bother installing 2.0 too then look for the older
version of SyncToy].

I use it for exactly the purpose you state, works very well. Be sure to
read the help file and choose the proper type of synch you want to do - it
can do 4 different varieties.

The aformentioned SecondCopy is also a good choice.
