symantec email message pop up

I do not have Outlook or Express yet I keep getting this
email message pop up on my toolbar on the lower right-
hand corner that says symantec, scanning message one of
one but I have not tried to send any emails. Could this
be a virus? How do I stop it. It pops up constantly
while I am online.

Do you have any of Symantec's products? (Norton's)
