Symantec Corporate Uninstall Problems

B

Brian

Hello!

We moved from one network to another and we will be using our own version of
Symantec Anti-Virus corporate. When we tried to uninstall the old version,
it would point back to the old server and ask for a password. So, we then
tried to remove it via this link:

http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPOR...2005026f1&dtype=corp&prod=&ver=&osv=&osv_lvl=

It will mostly remove that way but when trying to install our version, the
install program will start and then just stop and flash off the screen
before really even getting started.

What is causing this?

Thanks,
Brian

Did you installed yourself the old version or was it installed by someone
else ?

Create a group in Symantec System Center where no password er required for
uninstall.

Copy the grc.dat from the server to C:\Documents and Settings\All
Users\Application Data\Symantec\Symantec AntiVirus Corporate Edition\7.5

Restart the antivirus service, and now you should beable to uninstall
without any password.

I hope this helps you

Peter ;)

Well, we are contractors and we moved agencies..the old agency installed it
and the password points back to their network and they wont provide the
password, so they suggested a manual uninstall according to instructions on
Symantec's site but it is a PAIN in the rear.

Suggestions?

You are right Peter, but I have undestood that Peter already tried to
uninstall NAV manually.

The service will certainly not restart since that point.

He needs to look at the registry keys but, for obvious security reasons, I
would certainly not to explain how to in a public NG.

Yeah.I went through the registry and deleted all I could and it now installs
OK..
