sylpheed? I want to share email boxes between linux and windows

I also want to use the same email client on both.

I think this is possible with mozilla. But, it's very difficult. It
was easy with old mozilla, but new mozzilla uses this "salting"
technique so you can't easily tell mozilla where you want the email
files.

I think it might be easier with sylpheed. I think sylpheed lets you
put the email boxes where you want. Also, I think sylpeed uses the
standard mbox format, and calls it mbox.

I don't know if sylpheed will work with SSL. If not, then I can't use
sylpheed, because I need SSL.

I have never used sylpheed, and I don't know if it's any good.

A feature I would really like is to be able to leave email on the
server, until I want to download it. I have been using ultrafunk
popcorn to do that on the windows side, and I really like it.

There are some way's

1) use webmail. I don't think this is what you're looking for (You don't
want ssl only because you like the word, right?), but it *is* a solution.

2) If you are the your own mailserver administrator, you could look for an
option to copy mail to different maiboxes (like: everything adessed to
(e-mail address removed) will be copied to (e-mail address removed) and also leaf
it in the mailbox of (e-mail address removed) If done right by the developer,
copying shouldn't affect any headers.)

3) Many (but not all - thanks for nothing BillyBoy -) e-mail programs heve
indeed the option to download mail, but also leave it on the server. I
thought Pegasus mail has this feature, but since I don't use this option or
Pegasus mail, I'm not compleetley sure)

Just my 2 cents...

Thanks for answering. I guess I didn't make myself clear enough.

1) I don't want webmail. If I wanted webmail, I wouldn't be looking
into email clients.

2) I didn't say I didn't like SSL, I said I need SSL.

3) I want the option to delete email messages before I download my
email. I do this now with ultrafunk popcorn on the windows side, I'm
not sure how to do this on the linux side.

Try sylpheed-claws on window and linux
http://sylpheed-claws.sourceforge.net/win32/

Sharing the local mailbox between several OS is possible:
http://sylpheed-claws.sourceforge.net/win32/#Configuration

There is a support library for ssl connections (line wraps):
http://sylpheed-claws.sourceforge.net/win32/sylpheed/
claws/openssl/claws_w32_ssl_dev_040201.zip

I have been running claws for quite a while now. It is pretty stable.
