Is Sylpheed-claws good compared to thunderbird or other email client/newsreader?

Hey, heard Sylpeed-claws got mentioned in another thread and I
thought I used it long ago before it's gone GPL. At that time
it was still a baby and hard to tell how good it was. Does
anyone use it recently and is it any good?
How does it compared to ThunderBird, for example.

I thought the learning curve was a bit steep on earlier versions.

JMHO.

Did you hear the one about the dyslexic, agnostic, insomniac?
He would stay up late every night and wonder if there was a dog.

If you're into HTML email, forget about Claws. They've categorically stated
that HTML will NEVER be a part of the supported feature-set...

I'd stick with TB as its evolution is taking place at a far faster pace than
Claws. Also TB extensions are continuously being added/updated to improve
its performance.

It is a good thing to follow the first law of holes; if you are in one stop
digging.
