OT OT: Is gostat server down?

N

Night2000

Hi, do anyone use gostat counter for their site? Is it down or
the service is gone??

I use the gostat counter. As of this moment it's not working, and I
can't get to the site. Doing a tracert gives me an "Unable to resolve
target system name gostats.com." Hopefully it's just temporary.

I hope I didn't help overload them... I suddenly got amost
2000 vistors during the last couple day due to the
Langalist... Gostat should be use to this kind of traffic,
though, I *think*.

Gostats is back up, so the good news is the service isn't gone.

Not fully yet, I got this:

Error Diagnostic Information

"Server busy or unable to fulfill request. The server is
unable to fulfill your request due to extremely high traffic
or an unexpected internal error. Please attempt your request
again (if you are repeatedly unsuccessful you should notify
the site administrator). (Location Code: 25)"

But at least good to see a "message" instead of sever not
found - will check again later.

It's working for me. I went to their forum and found this.

Here's a small snippet from the post in case you still can't access
GoStats:

No, gostats did not go under. Yay!

The "Host Unkown" issue most likely relates to the DNS issues that
have been floating around for the past few weeks.

If 1 or more relevant DNS servers between you and GoStats goes down,
then you won't be able to resolve GoStats, and it will come back as a
"Could Not Find GoStats.com" or "Unresolved Host" error.

It comes down to a known vulnerability in some Cisco Routers, which
are the mainstay of the DNS community. AS I mentioned before, it
vaguely hit the news a few weeks ago when Akamai went down for a few
hours, effectively making Google, Yahoo, Wired, and several other
major sites invisible/innaccessible in the same way you couldn't get
at GoStats yesterday (I couldn't either).

Thanks for the link :)
Check this morning and it is working fine now (gladed).
