I used to install Sygate on everything. Used to swear by it - right up
until the last few versions of 5. Nothing but grief. I'm finding that
it is the source of alot of connection problems on computers.

Do you have marked Outlook as 'allowed' otherwise you can also create
an extra rule.

From what I understand, Sygate SPF will now longer be free. It is being
discontinued and folded into the professional version for fun and profit...

I still swear by it. I have not had a problem EVAR with it :).

I think it is one of the best. Download a copy quick.

what email program do you use.... just can not get it to work...

I use Thunderbird. Check to make sure you do not have your e-mail
client permantently blocked by going to the applications menus and
seeing if your e-mail client is listed as "block".

I use Thunderbird, Courier, Agent and Outlook 2002 for e-mail. They
all work with Sygate 5.6 (build 2808).

Do you have an antivirus with an email scanner installed?
Example if you use Avast, you have to have Avast Email Scanner Service
allowed as well.

In my experience you don't have to.
When I installed Avast last time I chose to install only the resident
scanner, so I have only that one.
But even previously, when I had all the modules installed, I remember I
could choose to disable them.
