Switching to newer version of FP

Hi.

I have a webpage that was done in Frontpage 2000. I do not have this
program and am looking at purchasing Frontpage 2003 or Expressions with
Frontpage 2003.

Do you know if I will be able to download the existing webpage in the older
version into the new software with out any problems?

Please advise and thanks.

You will have no problems using FrontPage 2003. Expression Web can be used
and will support all webbots and FrontPage components in the existing web
site, but does not have a navigation view. FrontPage Navigation components
cannot be edited or added to, but will not be removed.
Make a backup of the website, then open it in Expression Web and see what
happens.

FrontPage 2003 is no longer supported by Microsoft, and it may be difficult
to find a legitimate copy to purchase.
There is a free 60 day trial for Expression Web at
http://www.microsoft.com/expression. if you have a copy of FrontPage, or
Microsoft Office (any version) then you qualify for upgrade pricing for
Expression Web.

Expression Web has much less user-frinedly functionality than FrontPage.
... it all depends on whether you need it and/or if you're willing to learn
to write code.

Various versions of FrontPage are still available on Amazon.

If you have just one webpage .... it will be fairly easy ... or do you mean
a website? .. do you have fpse on the server or will you be ftping?

You can open a site on the server with fpse or in expression web with ftp
.... see this tutorial on that

http://any-expression.com/expression-web/tutorials/ew-ftp-live.htm

btw if you had the site on your hd all you would have to do is open the
program and browse you would not need to import... if from the server then
you need to ftp or publish .. importing leaves things behind.

If you used the frontpage bots such as search forms shared borders and
navigation bots.. while they will work and show up you cannot edit or change
them in expression web...

the latest expression web is 3.0 ... it might be a bit of a change for you
not having used fp03 .... its actually very user friendly - i continually
wish i had had it when i first started using fp - .. where as the bots were
not ... it was easy to push buttons to insert these bots.. but after that it
was not user friendly as they broke ( break) all the time .... fortuntely
frontpage from the first free version included functions that meant you
could use something else .. such as includes for navigation for example....

whilst you could buy frontpage 2003 from amazon or ebay... if you are a
learning mood then I would get expression web 3.0 first i would get a trial
version which lasts 60 days... to test it out... or if you dont want to
spend money you could get the free sharepoint designer 2007 which is just
like expression web 1.0 but has some bots still in it.. and sharepoint of
course but you can ignore both of those. the only major bug is that it wont
rememebr ftp logins... you might be eligble to get an upgrade price to
expession web 3.0
