switching identities

I have tried repeatedly to switch identities with this "updated" version of
microsoft office. My husband is job hunting and neither of us can get to his
e-mail.
I tried to do everything "help" told me to do about switching to another
person's folder, but the items I needed would not highlight.
What do I do?

Not sure what office has to do with this. Outlook does not use identities.
Are you even using Outlook? If so, specify your version.
