switching from home to work network setup

I have cable internet at home and fixed IP settings at work. When I hookup
my notebook at work I have to enter all the IP/gateway/DNS info each day.
Is there a way to switch between home and work networking profiles?

Windows XP has a setup page for "alternate configuration" in the TCP-IP
setup. According to Windows help, it's supposed to function to solve my
problem. When a DHCP server is not found and no IP is assigned then it's
supposed to use the alternate config, but it doesn't. Is there a way to
force it to use the alternate config?

Thanks.

I'm no expert by any means, but have you tried: opening a cmd window
and typing WINIPCFG, selecting the LAN ethernet card, click Release,
then click Renew.

Hope this helps.
